Long                               Good things are happening and things are changing. The doom and gloom over the possible loss of state funding to the arts and history industry was eased somewhat when the state budget restored approximately 80% of the predicted loss. What this means to us is unknown at this point. We have grant applications on file at this time and hopefully they will be winners. The Executive Board has retained the services of Yvonne Skaggs as our “Collections Manager”. Yvonne has already been changing and working with our exhibits as a   result of a state grant that we received last year. Yvonne has much experience in this field and the timing is perfect since we are faced with a major problem in the cleaning of our artifacts as reported in the Business Administrators report. Yvonne will be   working with the Curatorial Committee in the months to come. We are cooperating and developing partnerships with other museums and historical   organizations. From September 1 to January 5th, 2004 a number of our Eastlake and Rococo Victorian objects will be on display in a special exhibit at the Mid-Atlantic   Center For The Arts in Cape May. These partnerships are important to all of us in the history industry. As I have stated before, The methods of selling History are changing and your museum is a part of it. We are having a great start to the summer season, our attendance is up and our Thursday night programs are underway. We need your physical and financial support to continue to be in my opinion one of the best museums in the State Of New Jersey.    OCHM PRESENTED WITH CERTIFICATE BY NJHC            At a ceremony in Trenton, the Friends of the Ocean City   Historical Museum, Inc. received a certificate from the New Jersey Historical Commission.  The certificate was presented in recognition of the Friend of the Ocean City Historical Museum, Inc. success in applying to the Historical Commission for grant support.             Since the 2000 fiscal year, the Commission has awarded $15 million in funding, which has gone to organizations and   individuals in every county and legislative district in the State.       The New Jersey Historical Commission is a division of the New Jersey Department of State.  The Commission’s purpose is to enrich the lives of the public by preserving the historical record   and advancing interest in public knowledge and awareness of the   state’s history.
