October 2003                                      Volume XXIX                                     No. 4 Ocean City Historical Museum   1735 Simpson Avenue,   Ocean City, NJ   08226 From The President’s Desk . . .       What  a  summer  this  has  been!    Our  attendance  over  the  previous summers  was  up:  our  Thursday  Night programs were a great success with standing room only on several evenings. The anniversary exhibits of the Flanders Hotel and the Ocean City Pops were well received. The staff and the  volunteers  certainly  need  to  be  thanked  for  the  great  job this summer. We at long last are going to be able to schedule our activities around the repairs  and  changes  that  will  be  necessary  to  correct  the  humidity problems in our facility. We have been informed that the ductwork, crawl space ventilation and a few other minor repairs will be done during the fall  and  early  winter  months.  It  is  felt  that  the  museum  will  be  able  to remain open most of the time during these changes. After the first of the year,  the  carpeting  in  the  entire  facility  will  be  removed  and  replaced. This is a major undertaking and most likely the museum will be closed for an extended period. Also during this closing, we will have to start the cleansing of all of our artifacts to remove the mold and other materials that  have  accumulated.  We  will  try  and  keep  the  membership  and  the public aware of our closings by the newspapers and Channel 2 on TV. Our annual meeting and elections will be held on October 26^th at 2 p.m. in  the  museum.  This  is  an  ideal  time  to  hear  the  activity  reports  and learn  about  your  museum  and  its  future.  We  will  also  be  officially opening the exhibit displaying the Ocean City Fishing Club Trophy. This is  an  impressive  exhibit  and  members  of  the  City  Administration  and Fishing Club officers and members will be on hand for the ceremony.    OFFICERS   AND TRUSTEES 2003 PRESIDENT PAUL S.
