Internships
The Ocean City Historical Museum offers two internships – Curatorial and Museum Education. Both are available during the summer or school year and are unpaid. Intern duties and projects may be designed based on the intern’s academic needs. The intern’s schedule and hours are flexible and will be set by the Curator and intern prior to the start of the internship. All academic disciplines are welcome and no formal experience required. Training will be provided. An interest in history, non-profit organizations, working with the public and education in an informal learning setting are required. Must be friendly and able to work independently.
The Museum is located in Ocean City’s Cultural Community Center, which also houses the Public Library, Arts Center, Aquatic & Fitness Center and County Senior Center.
Curatorial Intern
Duties may include:
* Accession and catalog utilizing PastPerfect Museum Software.
* Locate artifact “home locations” and enter into PastPerfect.
* Update exhibits
* Assist Curator with projects
* Greet visitors and staff reception desk
* Give tours and assist visitors
* General Museum operations
Museum Education Intern
Duties may Include:
* Develop new lessons/activities for Wednesdays for Kids program.
* Teach Wednesdays for Kids program.
* Create new activities/programs to make the Museum more user-friendly for families.
* Greet visitors and staff at reception desk .
* Give tours and assist visitors.
* General Museum operations
