Internships
We are in need of volunteers to act as Docents (Tour Guides) who are
interested in the history of Ocean City. It is a rewarding volunteer
position – you get to converse with a myriad of personalities. You
learn from the visitors as they are learning from you. Every day is
different in the museum. Our volunteers are a very caring group of
people. Some of the volunteers donate their time once a week, once
every two weeks, once a month – it is up to you. Also, we have the
exciting exhibits and the summer Thursday night lecture series. Please
stop by or call us. We are just waiting for you to make a difference
in your own life and in someone elses’s life.
The Ocean City Historical Museum offers two internships – Curatorial and Museum Education. Both are available during the summer or school year and are unpaid. Intern duties and projects may be designed based on the intern’s academic needs. The intern’s schedule and hours are flexible and will be set by the Curator and intern prior to the start of the internship. All academic disciplines are welcome and no formal experience required. Training will be provided. An interest in history, non-profit organizations, working with the public and education in an informal learning setting are required. Must be friendly and able to work independently. The Museum is located in Ocean City’s Cultural Community Center, which also houses the Public Library, Arts Center, Aquatic & Fitness Center and County Senior Center.
